Day 2

Today we visit Shrewsbury, one of England's finest medieval market towns, with over 600 listed buildings and many black & white half-timbered Tudor buildings. Sit back and relax on a cruise along the River Severn loop, before exploring this lovely town which was the birthplace of Charles Darwin.

Day 3

This morning we enjoy a visit to the British Ironwork Centre. This afternoon we visit Powis Castle & Garden, built in the 13th century as a medieval fortress, the castle and garden you see today reflects the changing ambitions and visions of the Herbert family, who occupied the castle from the 1570s. With views across the Severn Valley, the world-famous garden retains many of its original features, including 17th century Italianate terraces lined with vibrant herbaceous borders and 30ft clipped yew trees, an Edwardian formal garden with century-old apple trees and rose beds, and a peaceful woodland area.

Day 4

This morning we board our horse drawn boat for a cruise along the Llangollen Canal. This afternoon we join the Llangollen Steam Railway for a trip beside the River Dee, through countryside classified as Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
